Jersey City man sentenced to life plus 40 years for rape, robbery of girl, mother
By Anthony J. Machcinski/The Jersey Journal May 03, 2013 at 2:40 PM Lamar Fields, a Jersey City man convicted in March of the rape and robbery of a 17-year-old girl and her 65-year-old mother, was sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years this afternoon in Hudson County Superior Court. Fields, 42, was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, child abuse, terroristic threats, burglary, robbery and weapons offenses relating to the early morning attack on Sept. 24, 2010. Neither victim was present for Fields' sentencing, however, the mother sent in a written statement that was read by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Najma Rana. "Our lives have been turned inside out and upside down," the mother said in a statement. "We are both fearful... I cannot undo that morning, that day, that hour. Gone is the sense that all will be well. I awake at night frightened that evil lurks." The mother added in a statement that her daughter still suffers nightmares and anxiety related to Fields' attacks. On the morning of Sept. 24, 2010, Fields entered the victims' Bramhall Avenue home through the back door and brutally assaulted the daughter and her mother for roughly 30 minutes. Defense attorney James Lisa fought against the life sentence, saying that the actions of his client "has no history of violence." However, Rana countered, saying that the cases were "horrific" and that he caused "trauma, destruction and devastation worthy of a life sentence." Rana added that Fields showed "no remorse" for his actions, and to prove her point she displayed a photo taken by a Jersey Journal photographer that shows Fields blowing a kiss to the camera. Fields was given a life sentence and two consecutive 20-year sentences in the crime. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... to_life.html#incart_river

Jersey City man wanted for two sex assaults in past month, authorities say Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 12:34 PM Patrick Villanova/The Jersey Journal Lamar Fields, 40, is wanted for two sexual assaults in Jersey City over the past month, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said today. Authorities are searching for a 40-year-old Jersey City man wanted for two sex assaults earlier this month in Jersey City, officials said today. Arrest warrants have been issued for Lamar G. Fields, of Jersey City, who is wanted for sexual assault, robbery and burglary, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said. DeFazio said that the victims in both early morning attacks did not know Fields, whose last known address was on Warner Avenue in 2007. The first attack occurred on Sept. 3, when Fields entered a Kennedy Boulevard home through a window armed with a knife and sexually assaulted a woman, DeFazio said. On Friday, Fields entered a Bramhall Avenue home through a back door armed with a fork and sexually assaulted of a second victim, DeFazio said. Fields stole items from both homes, although DeFazio declined to specify what was taken. Witness accounts and forensic evidence collected at the two scenes led to the positive identification of Fields following the most recent attack, DeFazio said. "We have various law enforcement agencies engaged in the search of Mr. Fields, including our Special Victims Unit," DeFazio said. Fields was sentenced to probation in January 2008 for a burglary conviction. After failing to appear at a probation hearing in November that year, a warrant was issued for his arrest.DeFazio added that Fields is currently believed to be homeless. "We think he may be using mass transit or staying in stations," DeFazio said. "We think he's in the metro area."The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is currently involved in the search for the Jersey City fugitive, as are police from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Transit and Jersey City, DeFazio said. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Fields is encouraged to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit at (201) 915-1345.
