oh wow. i know McNair Academy growing up. It's like Styvesant High School (of NYC) of Jersey City. Only the best and brightest kids get in, no matter the racial makeup. I didnt know they're having financial problems. I will vote most definitely!

As the parent of a former and current McNair student, I will vote for McNair. (Perhaps you would bring greater distinction to your school and get more votes by correctly spelling "opportunity" in your subject line. Just a thought.

there's currently a contest being sponsored by 'Kohl's' on facebook that is offering up $500,000 to each public school that has received the most votes, placing them somewhere in the top 20.

I am currently a student at Mcnair Academic high school located in downtown Jersey City. The school has so many pros. It's a hotbed of success and potential being exerted in an urban environment, both academically and athletically. Not to mention the fact that the school also sticks by a standard of keeping a racially diverse student body, which causes students to be more aware of their fellow inhabitants of Jersey City.

Currently, there are many problems with the school. The school lacks funding for athletics, field trips, computer upgrades, hiring more teachers, and many other things. These past few years, there was even a PAPER shortage. A shortage of a BASIC necessity at a school of higher learning. It's not the fault of the school, though, rather the fault of the Jersey City Board of Education (poor monetary distribution), and our state government (Christi).

You really can help, though. Half a million dollars for the school will make such an immense difference for all of the school's student body and faculty.

It'll be a great way to get money flowing through the city's education system. Even if you're not affiliated with Mcnair, contribute to the cause. We're already in the top 75, and we have almost a month to climb to the top 20. And even if you don't have a facebook, perhaps make one, or simply spread the link to others that do.
