Any other new advice on getting a cat's nails done around here?

I just called Jim's Pet Salon on Broadway in Bayonne about the cost of clipping my cat's nails.... and he said it was free... "Free? How can you do that?" I asked....

Then I Googled this place and read the reviews.... LOL, got to love Bayonne!

Very unhappy with the job done. Looked like no effort went into it. I dropped my dog off and 40 minutes later he was done. I guess he had no appointments and after that experience I know why.

Words cannot describe how upset I was to see my dog when I picked him up. I didn't even recognize him. I have a Cairn Terrier. He actually had a few bald spots on him. I even asked "Jim" what happened and all he couldn't give an explanation. He said my dog was difficult. My dog is 5 years old and I have never had a problem wherever I took him. There are other options in town and I would try all others before Jim!!!

Terrible experience. I have a Yorky and asked just for a trim because I wanted to leave more than usual on due to the cold weather. I returned and found him completely buzzed. Just a thin coat remained. I was extremely upset and all that was offered was a "Sorry, I made a mistake. It happens". I even had to pay for a cut that was nothing like what I asked for. I'm sure my dog is cold all the time, even with the coat. Never again will I go back. Total lack of respect and customer service.

I've been taking my dog, a husky, to Jim's for about eight years now, and they've always done a great job. She has a very thick coat and hates the heat. They spend a lot of time hand clipping, brushing, combing to thin her coat out and vary the cut according to the season. She gets lots of attention, and enjoys going there. Their prices are very resonable as well.

Definitely would not recommend. They do not listen to your instructions on how to cut your dog. I think they give all dogs the same cut. With so many other options out there, Do Not Settle For Them!!!

Whatever you live close to - can often be best for your cat.

Heather at Groomingdales is great - she's the best cat groomer we have found anywhere, at any price -- and she is very reasonable! She can really handle our cat well -- it is a pleasure to watch her work!

if you just need to comb your cat and cut their nails you should probably learn how to do that. it isn't that hard.
they will eventually get used to it.Quote:

For some reason my female tuxedo cat won't clean her back. So her back starts looking like it has mange. The vet combed her the last time I took her there but I don't think that's an option. Are there cat groomers in Jersey City?

I must agree with CatsnDogs on this one - Heather at Groomingdales is great at clipping cat nails.
