A Jersey City man was arrested after officers tried to pull him for running a stop sign, reports said.
Officers in an unmarked car saw Lafrance R. Spriggs run a stop sign at Woodlawn Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday.
They turned on their lights and siren and caught up to Spriggs at a red light. The officers approached the the SUV and asked him to open his window, but traffic started to move and so did Spriggs.
Spriggs tried to speed away from the officers, but ended up causing a four-car collision when the SUV tried to pass slower moving vehicles in oncoming traffic, one of the drivers told police.
Spriggs was arrested and charged with assault by auto, eluding police, resisting arrest, possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana and other charges after cops found three bags of suspected marijuana and $1,625, reports said.
Spriggs and two other drivers were taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
