I think it was the recession more than anything else that did in Skin Organix. A business like that relies heavily on discretionary spending. As much as I liked the skin care products there, I've ended up using Neutrogena products that my dermatologist recommended and costs about one-fourth as much. I wish people would stop blaming a national chain or franchise everytime a business goes under. Chains employ locals, and franchises are often owned by someone who lives in the community as well. In Skin Organix's case, it's closest competition was probably Walker's Apothecary, another independent local business but not really a direct competitor as Walker's specializes more in spa services than products.
