A New York man who crashed into a marked Jersey City police car late last night and was charged with driving while intoxicated, officials said.
Michael B. Kelley, 44, of Pearl River, was also issued a summons for refusing to take a Breathalyzer following his arrest after the 11:15 p.m. crash on Tonnelle Avenue just north of the Tonnelle Circle, reports said.
The police car was stopped at Tonnelle and County Road at the scene of a crash with injuries when Kelley's Dodge pickup truck sideswiped the marked police car and an officer said the vehicle continued "with no intention of stopping," reports said.
The pickup was stopped by police a short distance away and an officer said Kelley's eyes were bloodshot, his clothes disheveled, he staggered and his speech was slurred, reports said.
The pickup had some impact damage and a flat tire, reports said, adding that the police car's right front fender was damaged, reports said.
