How can this be happening 3 incidents in less than a week. Healy said crime is at a 30 Year low. How are those crimes statistics looking now?

Based on these robbery reports, I think I am pretty sure I am like the only person in Jersey City who does not carry several thousand dollars in my pockets!

Jersey City man robbed of 5K and iPhone, cops say

By Ken Thorbourne/The Jersey Journal
February 28, 2010, 8:18PM

A 24-year-old Jersey City man was robbed of $5,000 cash and his cell phone last night, police said.

The victim told cops he was walking at Summit and Laidlaw avenues at 11:07 p.m. when two men came up behind him and one of them said, "Don't move. I have a gun. Just empty your pockets," reports said.

The victim said he then felt an object press against the back of his head, which he believed was a gun, reports said.

The victim, a local businessman, handed over his iPhone, and his wallet, which contained $5,000, plus his driver's license and credit cards, reports said.

The robbers then ran east on Laidlaw Avenue on foot, reports said.

Anyone with information about this crime should call the Jersey City police tipline at (201) 547-JAIL.
