Shot in arm by muggers

A Jersey City man was shot in the arm while fighting off robbers who attacked him on Kennedy Boulevard early yesterday morning, officials said.

At 1:15 a.m., officers responded to Christ Hospital, where a 33-year-old Bronx man said he left his girlfriend's home on Stagg Street and was walking to Journal Square when he was attacked, reports said.

The two men approached him from behind and one of them went for his wallet while the other began punching him in the face and body, reports said.

The victim said he was trying to defend himself when he heard a gunshot and both men ran, reports said. The Bronx man went back to his girlfriend's home, where he washed and bandaged the wound to his right forearm, reports said.

The victim was driven to the hospital by two friends and when they arrived at about 2:30 a.m. an officer stationed there began the investigation, reports said.
