Thursday, October 29, 2009 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
A 14-year-old Jersey City boy was arrested after a brutal robbery in which the 42-year-old victim was punched numerous times and beaten on the head with a stick, officials said.
At 6:14 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the gas station at Duncan and West Side avenues and spoke to an Olean Avenue man who said he was walking home when he passed a group of boys near the gas station, reports said.
The boy, who lives on Fremont Street, ran up to him and punched him repeatedly in the face saying, "Give me all you got," reports said. The 14-year-old then beat the man with a wooden stick, cutting the victim's face, reports said.
As the victim ran to the gas station mini-mart, the boys threw glass bottles at him, reports said.
The Fremont Avenue boy fled on an orange bike, but in the company of police the victim spotted him on Delaware Avenue with the other boys, reports said.
The boy was charged with robbery and weapons offenses and sent to the Hudson County Youth House in Secaucus.
