East Orange man was arrested in Jersey City and faces weapon and drug possession charges

Jerome McGhee faces drug and gun charges after police linked him to a loaded gun and suspected cocaine. heroin, and crack.

A gun and a large quantity of suspected heroin, cocaine and crack were found in an apartment in Jersey City's Montgomery Gardens housing complex after Jerome McGhee, 39, of East Orange was arrested in a car near the complex Tuesday night.

McGhee, was arrested at about 10 p.m. and charged with weapons offenses in connection with the loaded 9mm handgun, and drug counts including possession with intent to distribute near a school and near public property, reports said.

Police blocked his car in and found two vials of suspected cocaine and 15 bags of suspected heroin with the logo "Star Track" in his possession, reports said.

They also found his girlfriend's apartment key, and she allowed them to search her apartment where the police found the loaded gun, 102 bags of suspected heroin with the logo "Star Track," five vials of suspected cocaine, 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana, 2.5 grams of suspected cocaine and 2.5 grams of suspected crack, reports said.
