Why is your first reaction to blame the victim? How about a few words for the thugs that attacked these people? Just because we live in a city doesn't require that we put up with or expect to be assaulted/robbed/etc. if we are out in a group at 11 p.m., which is not very late for college age kids. Crime happens in the burbs too, but it gets more of a response there because people there demand it of their elected officials and police. Apathy and a feeling of helplessness is part of the problem.

Walking home from Lincoln Park at 11pm? What\'s goin on in there at 11pm? Why didn\'t the cameras in the area on SPC pick this up?
The problem is, these SPC kids think they are still in the \"burbs\", you in JERSEY CITY!!!

Two attacked in robbery try

Two Saint Peter's College students were attacked in an attempted robbery on Tuesday night at the corner of Montgomery Street and West Side Avenue in front of a Getty gas station, according to police reports.

One of the victims told police that he and two 18-year-old friends were walking home from Lincoln Park at 11 p.m. when four males they had seen earlier in the park approached them.

One of the men asked the victim for a dollar and when he responded that he had no money, the attacker began punching the victim, according to police reports.

The other victim tried to push the man off his friend but was then attacked himself by the other assailants.

All suspects were described as 18 to 20 years old, about 5-foot-10, weighing about 170 pounds, and all were wearing white T-shirts and black hoodies. One had a gold tooth. One had a number of rings on his hands. The victims told police the suspects fled south on West Side Avenue toward Duncan Avenue.

One of the victims was taken to Jersey City Medical Center.
