Two Jersey City boys, ages 12 and 15, were arrested Wednesday after an alleged robbery attempt using a pellet gun, officials said.

The 15-year-old, of Bramhall Avenue, and the 12-year-old, of Bergen Avenue, were arrested at Lexington Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard and charged with robbery, conspiracy and weapons offenses, reports said.

The victim, a 19-year-old Union Street man, flagged down police on Communipaw Avenue just after 9 p.m. and told them two boys with a handgun had just tried to rob him and were standing at the corner of Lexington and Kennedy Boulevard, reports said.

Police officers drove the victim to the corner, where he identified the boys, reports said.

The boys were arrested and a black pellet gun was found beside a nearby tree, reports said.

The victim told police the older boy had approached him with the gun in his waistband and the younger boy asked for money.

Both boys were booked at the Police Department's Juvenile Bureau on Cator Avenue and taken to the Hudson County Youth House in Secaucus.
