I saw this on the news last night. They said her father was driving the car with her in the passenger seat and he just kept driving her straight to the hospital... probably a smart move.

I drive 1/9 truck every day. I hate it.

that's horrible... i hope she makes it.

that's one of my greatest fears whenever i drive behind or near trucks. my mom always used to get mad when i sped up to like 80 or 85 just to pass them

Jersey City teen hit by flying truck part, in critical condition

by The Jersey Journal
Thursday July 16, 2009, 8:26 AM

A 19-year-old Jersey City woman was seriously injured when a metal object from a tractor trailer flew through the car windshield and struck her while her father was driving north on Routes 1 & 9 in Kearny at around 10 a.m. yesterday, Kearny police said.

The accident occurred between the Tullo's truck stop and the North Bridge on Routes 1 & 9 in Kearny. Police say a mud-flap brace on the southbound side flew into the northbound lane and through the windshield of the family's 1997 white Honda Odyssey, said Sgt. John Taylor of the Kearny Police Traffic Division.
