Robbers punch boy, 14, in face after school in Jersey City
by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal Thursday March 19, 2009, 1:10 PM
A 14-year-old Jersey City boy was punched in the face during a robbery attempt by two older boys as he walked home from school on Sip Avenue at dismissal time yesterday, cops told The Jersey Journal today.
Officers were dispatched to the victim's home at 4:06 p.m. and with his mother present, the boy said he was at Bryant and Sip avenues when two boys, one described as being 17 years old, pushed him against a fence, reports said.
One of the robbers demanded, "Do you have any money?" and the boy replied, "I have no money," reports said. The robbers then went through the victim's pocket and after finding nothing, the 17-year-old punched the boy in the face, reports said.
Both robbers ran away heading west on Sip and the victim ran home and called police, reports said.
The victim, who was only able to give a description of one of his attackers, refused medical attention, reports said.
