Boy, 16, shot fleeing group in Greenville
Friday, October 17, 2008 A 16-year-old Jersey City boy was shot as he ran from a group of youths who opened fire with at least two semiautomatic handguns in Greenville Wednesday night, officials said. At about 7:41 p.m., Jersey City police officers were flagged down on Kennedy Boulevard and Virginia Avenue by NJ Transit cops who said they were near the Light Rail station at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Randolph Avenue when they saw a group of teens running away and spotted the wounded boy, reports said. The victim said he was hanging out with cousins when he saw a group of people coming toward him, some on bicycles and others walking and began to walk away when he heard shots and fell to the ground. The Snyder High School student was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, reports said. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
