Three armed robbers held up a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl in Jersey City's Lafayette section last night, taking $20 worth of costume jewelry before telling the girls to run away, officials said.
The girls told police they were at Communipaw and Crescent avenues at 11 p.m. when a crowd of screaming people ran past them and when they turned around, three armed men were pointing guns at their heads, reports said.
The robbers told them to hand over their jewelry and the Jewett Avenue girl and Communipaw Avenue girl gave them a pair of rings and a set of earrings, reports said.
The robbers told the girls to turn around and run away, which they did and they then called police, reports said.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
