Great picture--thanks. I loved the fact that he wasn't a hipocrite. He fought for everyone's civil rights, all races and creeds. A white actor was turned down for a Eurasian role and Mr. heston said that was obscenely racist too. He had strength of his convictions, that's for sure. And the reason he was with the NRA was because he supported our right to carry arms legally--not illegally. He defended our country vigorously but also believed in the Constitutional right that if our government got out of hand we should have the right to bear arms to defend ourselves.

In the 60's he marched with MLK. In the 80s and later he fought for our Second Amendment rights. These are of the same cloth - unpopular in their time but treasured later.

It's funny, I've always liked his movies, but recently sat down with "El Cid" and found it unwatchable. I've forgiven his politics for doing some decent film SF at a time when few else would do it at a level above Corman. I thought Omega Man was more realistic and scary than Smith's Legend.

"SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!"

We could be there yet...
