Amazing how this system was built on good faith but at night becomes a free for all to ride and rob at will.

A Jersey City woman was robbed at gunpoint early this morning while walking home from a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station, according to police reports.

At 12:26 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was walking home from the West Side Avenue Light Rail station west down Claremont Avenue towards Mallory Avenue when two men ran up to her, reports said.

Both men appeared to be in their late teens or early 20's, reports said. One, who was armed with a handgun, was about 5-foot-9, of medium build and wore a blue and yellow jacket with black pants, the victim told police.

The other was about 5-foot-6, also of medium build and was wearing all black, reports said.

The armed man held the handgun to the victim's head and said, "Give me your stuff," before snatching a gold chain from her neck, reports said.

The other man took her Nike book bag and smartphone before the pair fled east on Claremont Avenue toward West Side Avenue, reports said.

A Jersey City woman was robbed at gunpoint by a group of teenagers Tuesday night at the West Side Light Rail station despite offering one of them food while on the train, police said.

Just after 11:30 p.m. officers responded to a business on West Side Avenue where a 48-year-old woman said "they robbed me and took my money," a police report states.

Shortly thereafter, six people who fit the description provided by the victim were apprehended by police near Kennedy Boulevard and Virginia Avenue, cops said.

Police arrested Khalif Geger, 19, of Van Horne Street, Lamar C. Cattenhead, 18, of Bostwick Avenue, as well as three 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old, charging them with robbery and weapons offenses.
