View Larger Map One of two drug suspects leads Jersey City cops on foot chase Saturday, October 30, 2010 Two Jersey City men were arrested on drug charges yesterday, but not before one of them led police on a wild chase through the streets, police said. Quasim Arvinger, 25, of Myrtle Avenue, and Jamel Booker, 26, of Dales Avenue, were charged with drug offenses that include possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and possession near a school. Arvinger was also charged with obstruction of a governmental function and resisting arrest. Police say Arvinger got into a car driven by Booker, then got out and walked into an alleyway on Gifford Avenue, in an area known to police for its drug trafficking. When Booker picked up Arvinger again, Arvinger had placed small plastic bags in his pocket before getting back into Booker's car, cops said. Police arrested the men and one officer went to the alleyway to retrieve the stash of drugs that they say Arvinger had dipped into for the sale. That's when Arvinger took off, running north to Belmont Avenue, then to Bergen Avenue, where he climbed onto the roof of a garage and jumped off. From there he fled to Emory Street, but Arvinger was finally captured at 78 Brinkerhoff Avenue. Police recovered six bags of suspected marijuana and $198 believed to be proceeds of drug sales, reports said. JOURNAL STAFF
