Breaks free of grip, she thwarts kidnapping

A 31-year-old Jersey City woman narrowly avoided being kidnapped at gunpoint in Greenville on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The woman was at Kennedy Boulevard and Lembeck Avenue at about 2 p.m. when a car jumped the curb in front of her and came to a stop, reports said.

The passenger-side door opened and a man reached out and grabbed her by the arm, reports said.

The man told her to get into the car and when she refused, he pulled out a black handgun, pointed it at her, and again ordered her into the car.

That's when the woman managed to break the man's grip on her arm and ran to a nearby bodega at Pearsall Avenue and the Boulevard, reports said.

Anyone with information on the kidnapping attempt is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL
