Wow that address is literally next door to Two Boots. Not sure that's a super wise location for a pizzeria.

I love Porta - well worth the schlep down the shore, especially for the dayboat octopus! I do wonder how they'll do in that particular location on Newark Ave., as Two Boots and Roman Nose are literally just steps away. In any event, if this is true, it'll be a welcome addition to the nabe.

Is it at least a casual, slice at the counter kind of place? Downtown has very few of these that are of decent quality.

If so, it might fill a void. If it's a more formal gourmet style pizza place, we are saturated with those, frankly.

How does one see the JC Planning board notes? Are they posted online?

I have often been to Porta in Asbury and their sister restaurant, the Brickwall Tavern, also in Asbury. The food, service and the atmosphere are really good. This is definitely a good addition to JC.

Just spotted something interesting in the notes for the JC planning board meeting on 1/7/14... Looks like the popular Asbury Park Neopolitan style pizza joint is coming to 135 Newark Ave (next to Sawadee). I'd never heard of them but they've been reviewed favorably by NYT and are apparently opening another in Newark near the Prudential center as well. Sounds like a great addition to the 'hood and hopefully the last pizza joint lol. Here's another review of their original location.
