You may be able to figure that out using an old map. If you go to the downtown library on the 3rd floor is the "Jersey Room" on the East side of the North wall is a maps section. Look for the old Sanborn maps, if they are not in there ask for them to be taken out of the back. They have building level detail that sometimes includes owners.

I keep passing by the corner of Cottage and JFK and they just started remodeling the space on the corner. They just ripped off the facade and now the space looks completely different. It looks like the building might have been interesting before with nice brickwork. Does anyone know what used to be at this location? Im just curious.
