A 1% profit? They got to be kidding, especially in the area.

I just left the caucus meeting, Councilman Yun questioned the low profit these hotels claim they will make. Yun did not believe a $8.7 million hotel will only make $100,000 in profits. He is an interesting councilman, nothing escapes him.

There's a Hyatt House being built across from the elevator section of the Exchange Pl PATH station. It's in that partially condemned building where some roof or ceiling collapsed a few years ago.

Will the public see how much profit these hotels will make? Of course not, so why should we subsidize them?

Two new hotels slated for Jersey CityBy JERSEY CITY — Two new hotels are coming to Jersey City, a five-story, 87-room hotel slated for a mostly vacant lot outside of the Holland Tunnel and a seven-story, 75-room one on Tonnele Avenue at Secaucus Road. The two new tourist spots will join a Hyatt hotel under construction at Exchange Place and a Marriott proposed for a lot adjacent to the Grove Street PATH station on Marin Boulevard. Construction on the roughly $8 million hotel near the Holland Tunnel — on 14th Street in between Marin Boulevard and Manila Avenue — is estimated to begin next month and last for two years. The $6.1 million Tonnele Avenue hotel will take 12 months to build, and there is no estimated start date yet. In total they will generate about 280 construction jobs and 80 permanent full-time jobs, the developers estimate. Both hotels are set to receive 20-year tax breaks from the city. The City council is set to give them initial approval next week. Read more: http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... ey_city.html#incart_river
