Jersey City will open its two outdoor pools and turn on all park sprinklers for Memorial Day Weekend, city officials announced.

Sprinklers -- in 12 locations -- and pools -- Pavonia Pool and Lafayette Pool -- will continue to be open through Labor Day.

?We want parents and children to know that we have a safe and fun environment for them to cool off from the heat,? Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy said. ?A visit to our pools or sprinklers is a great way for families to enjoy the holiday.?

The following is a list of pools and sprinklers that will be open:

-- Pavonia Pool, West Side & Pavonia

Holiday hours: Friday, May 24 from 2-7 .p.m and Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Following the holiday weekend, the schedule will be Monday through Friday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

-- Lafayette Pool & Aquatic Center, Johnson & Pacific
Holiday hours: Friday, May 24 from 2-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 25 through Monday May 27 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Following the holiday weekend, pool hours will be Monday through Friday 7-10 a.m. for Adult/Lap swim only and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Full-day hours will begin at both of the outdoor pools at the conclusion of the school year.

-- Pershing Field Pool

Monday May 27 from noon-6 p.m.

Regular pool hours are in effect for days preceding and following the Memorial Day Holiday, which are noon to 4 p.m.

Sprinklers will be open seven days a week beginning Friday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
