Runner to Arrive in New Jersey as her Cross-country Trek
Nears Completion; NJDOT Alerting Motorists to Promote Safety

By NJDOT
6/9/2010

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced today that a teenager from Minnesota will be jogging on New Jersey roadways starting this evening as she completes a cross-country run to raise money for truckers facing steep medical bills.

Jasmine Jordan, 17, of Dalton, Minnesota is expected to cross into New Jersey from Wilmington, Delaware tonight before sundown. She expects to run about 20 miles daily until she reaches New York City on June 15.

Motorists are being advised of her arrival in New Jersey to promote safety for all who share the roadways. Jasmine?s father has accompanied her in a truck which he drives in the right lane of roadways at low speeds, remaining just behind her.

The trip began in September in Los Angeles.

Jordan?s proposed route in New Jersey will take her along Route 130 to North Brunswick, along Route 27 to Newark and on Route 1&9 Truck into Jersey City. In Hudson County, the plan is to take John F. Kennedy Boulevard to Route 63 (Bergen Boulevard) to Palisades Avenue. Pending approval of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Jordan will run across the George Washington Bridge prior to completing her trip in Midtown Manhattan.
