sneak preview of one of the Mark Dean Veca paintings.

I am hoping for a space in Canco.

I have Ron English confirmed, as well as some other surprises.

Open Call for Curators:
Curated Anchor Shows for the 2008 Jersey City Artists Studio
Tour

The Pro Arts Exhibitions Committee and the Jersey City Division of
Cultural Affairs are seeking innovative and compelling curatorial
project proposals for the 18th annual Jersey City Artists Studio Tour.
We anticipate having a number of exhibition spaces available at
several sites throughout Jersey City including Canco Lofts.
Proposals featuring work in all media are welcome.

TO APPLY TO BE A CURATOR:
?Submit your theme, with title and a clear description of the range of
work you plan to consider to: Rebecca.proarts@gmail.com.
?Please include visuals if possible.
?Include your art resume and contact information.
?Indicate in your proposal if you have a specific space in mind or are
interested in a small or large, raw or finished space.

Submissions are due by June 10th, 2008. No exceptions.
Pro Arts will offer mini-grants up to $300 for curators to be awarded
at the completion of shows. A card for the program of shows (not for
individual shows) will be provided. Additional needs normally are not
covered but can be discussed. There will be a fee of $15 for each
participating artist, which will help cover operational and opening
costs (this does not include the $20 registration fee for the Studio
Tour).

Although Pro Arts will offer some administrative support, the
curators will be the primary coordinators to their show.
For example, curators will be expected to:
? Create open call, select and inform all artists, forward exhibition contracts,
collect fees, secure delivery/pick-up of artworks, install and de-install exhibition.
? Provide a binder of information to display at exhibition.
This should include all pricing information and how to contact each artist.
? Write Press Release
? Communicate with Pro Arts and maintain deadlines.
? Curators may also be required organize gallery sitting at their exhibition,
depending on the allotted space.

General information about the shows: The shows will be part of the
Jersey City Artists Studio Tour on Oct. 4th and 5th from noon to 6pm.
Last year's Studio Tour featured the work of nearly 500 artists at one
hundred venues and we are hoping for another vibrant arts weekend.
Exhibitions should also be open two Saturdays before and two Saturdays
after the Tour weekend where possible.

Last year, the Tour Kick-Off celebration took place at Canco Lofts and
brought over 1,500 visitors. See last year's opening in a video by Colin
Comstock at:
