A harbor seal may be the last thing you would expect to see on Manhattan's West Side. But that's exactly what wildlife rangers found at a Hudson River kayak launch.
A spokesman from the city parks department says the seal, found on a river bank, looks healthy and will probably just go back into the water.
Manhattan seal sightings are fairly uncommon. But the parks department says this is the second time this year that a harbor seal has come ashore. Harbor seals generally live in shallow areas of estuaries or rivers, and waters where sandbars and beaches are uncovered at low tide.
