I would love to have a light rail that runs the length of JFK from Bayonne up to Bergen County. It could go in the street with minimal construction - plenty of countries have rail lines that share road space with cars. Maybe even have a raised one so it doesn't slow down traffic.

It's about time, I hope they finally get the green light for the Path Station in Marion too one day and have a new LR line that travels north along the Westside off the city to the Marion Path Station.

Expansion of Hudson-Bergen light rail expected to get $5 million boost
Updated 9:07 AM; Posted 9:00 AM

By Ron Zeitlinger The Jersey Journal

The expansion of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system westward to Route 440 in Jersey City is expected to receive a $5 million jump start when the NJ Transit board votes on an engineering contract next week.

The expansion project is seen as a key component of the city plan to revitalize the western side of the city and provide a mass transit option for the planned Bayfront development on the Hackensack River north of Society Hill.

The extension of the light rail would also connect the Hudson River and Hackensack River waterfronts with one train ride.
