"She can?t be bought," reads one of the signs. "Already under contract to Ray Lesniak."

it's a laughable attempt to keep her name out there without doing any work other than having an "unknown" friend print up a few signs. The JJ has now given her two stories for close to no money.

Jersey City election 2013: 'Cunningham For Mayor' signs pop up

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
March 05, 2013 at 2:37 PM

State Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham is not running for mayor of Jersey City, is she?

Cunningham has never explicitly denied she wanted the job, but when she announced in January that she would seek re-election to her Senate seat this year, that seemed to close the door on any entry into the mayor?s race.

But signs have been popping up in Jersey City calling Cunningham ?the people?s choice? for mayor. Cunningham is the widow of the late former mayor Glenn D. Cunningham.

?She can?t be bought,? reads one of the signs, caught by a reader of The Jersey Journal.

Appearing in Jersey City yesterday at an event with Gov. Chris Christie, Cunningham said she has seen the signs. When asked whether she was responsible for them, she replied, ?No.?

If Cunningham wanted to jump into the race, she still has time, though she'd have to collect 1,331 valid signatures of registered city voters by 4 p.m. next Monday.

The three actual mayoral campaigns ? Mayor Jerramiah Healy, who is seeking a third full term, and challengers Steve Fulop and Jerry Walker ? said yesterday they would comply with a local ordinance that bans advertisements on public property.

The election is set for May 14, when the mayoralty and all nine council seats will be up for grabs.

The biggest question in the Jersey City political world ? will state Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham run for mayor next year? ? will remain unanswered for now.
?I haven?t made a decision,? Cunningham said this morning when The Jersey Journal asked her the million-dollar question.
Cunningham was in Lincoln Park for the kickoff of the Hudson County Democratic Organization?s summer voter-registration drive.
As of today, the only serious mayoral candidates to announce their intentions to run in the 2013 city race are Mayor Jerramiah Healy and Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop.
Cunningham, widow of the late mayor Glenn D. Cunningham, could upend the race should she choose to throw her hat in the ring. Her husband was widely popular, and she has a strong base of support.Resized ImageUndecided.
