Rowdiness by crowd leads to drug count
Monday, June 04, 2007
Police arrested an alleged drug dealer after responding to rowdy behavior at Duncan Avenue public housing complex yesterday morning, reports said.
Police arrested Desmond Gosa, 28, of Montgomery Street, and charged him with obstruction, resisting arrest, and possession and dealing drugs near a school and public housing, sources said.
While patrolling near the housing complex, police noticed a group of rowdy males creating a nuisance at 3:45 a.m., police said. When police tried to disperse the crowd, one of them, Gosa, told cops he wasn't going to leave and used obscene language, cops said.
As the police tried to arrest him, he fled north through the complex. But he did not get far before he tripped, scratching his elbows and knees, and police collared him, reports said. He then tried to fight with cops, reports said, but was subdued.
He was then taken to the precinct station, where police recovered a clear zip lock bag in his pocket, containing 36 vials of suspected cocaine.
He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and treated for minor cuts and bruises, police said.
