A 13-year-old Jersey City boy who was arrested twice in two days this week is suspected of carrying out a number of recent burglaries in the Heights section of the city, authorities said.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation said the teenager is a suspect in as many as eight burglaries or attempted burglaries in the last week. The source is not authorized to speak publicly about the case, but said four of the incidents were reported on Zabriski Street and three took place on Beach Street.

According to police reports, the boy was first arrested on Monday after a Liberty Avenue couple reported that someone had entered their apartment while they were lying in bed just after 2 a.m. and stole their cellphones.
