A Jersey City man who was shot in the lower back this morning near McGinley Square has died of his injuries, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino has confirmed.

The name of the victim has not been released yet pending notification of next of kin, he said.

The man, about 25 years old, was brought to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health this morning in critical condition, according to hospital spokesman Mark Rabson.

He never took nobody's life so he didn't deserve for his to be taken either! Like he deserved to die because he made mistakes in his life. SMH!"

A Jersey City man who was shot in the lower back this morning near McGinley Square was brought to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health in critical condition, according hospital spokesman Mark Rabson.

Police officers arrived near the intersection of Bergen and Storms avenues at around 12:20 a.m. today and performed compression on the 25-year-old victim while he was lying near the sidewalk, a police report states.
