Jersey City man, 36, beaten unconscious in street fight

Responding to reports of a street fight early yesterday, Jersey City cops found a 36-year-old man who had been beaten so severely his eyes were swollen shut, according to police reports.

Cops found the Jersey City man at 12:55 a.m. at Woodlawn and West Side avenues, reports said.

The man, whose face was bruised and swollen, told cops he was attacked from behind and briefly lost consciousness while he was being assaulted, reports said.

The victim was treated at Jersey City Medical Center for his injuries, and it wasn't clear from reports if he told police he could recognize his attackers.
