Police are searching for a 26-year-old (Lawrence) township resident who disappeared in Jersey City this past weekend while spending some time with friends, police said.

Andrew Channin was last seen around 11 a.m. Saturday as he and others were getting ready to leave a friend's apartment. Channin went downstairs ahead of the others, according to police.

"When they went out several minutes later, he was nowhere to be seen, and they haven't heard from him since," Lawrence Lt. Charles Edgar said Monday.

First the friends, then Channin's parents reported him missing and police began to look into the matter Sunday night.

Causing additional concern for friends and police alike is Channin's health. In late December, Channin became involved in a fight in Trenton and suffered a head injury.

"We believe he's possibly in danger due to the recent head injury," Edgar said. "He hasn't been acting like himself."

Jersey City police are aware of the investigation, Edgar said.
