Pier fire breaks out on Jersey City waterfront next to Michael Anthony's

Pier fire on Newport Waterfront in Jersey City
A fire broke out at the Newport Waterfront this morning, up the pier from Jersey City restaurant, Michael Anthony's.
The Jersey City Fire Department received a call at 8:24 A.M. concerning a pier fire at 500 Washington Boulevard. Within minutes, firefighters arrived on scene and by 9:05 A.M. the fire was under control.
According to Fire Director Armando Roman, a small undercarriage was responsible for the electrical fire. A docked boat had to be moved for access to the fire, but the vehicle was not damaged. New York City's fireboat also helped extinguish the fire.
By 10:32 A.M., the fire department left the docks. No individuals were harmed during the incident.
