Two were chased by masked men wielding knives by the Ninth Street Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station in Hoboken, police said.
A Jersey City teen and a friend were chased through Hoboken by two armed men with knives, police said. The 17-year-old told police he was with his friend at the Ninth Street Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station near 800 Jackson St. at 9:13 p.m., reports said.
They saw two men wearing ski masks - one dressed in all black, one with a black hooded sweatshirt with thin white lines across - approach them, reports said. As they came toward the two, one masked man handed the other a knife, reports said.
Afraid, the teen and his friend ran and fled in different directions as the masked men chased them, reports said. The 17-year-old used his friend's cell phone to call 9-1-1 as they were running and found cover near 1100 Adams St., reports said.
The 17-year-old said the masked man chasing him tore into his jacket with the knife, causing a tear on the right side of his garment, reports said. He refused medical attention, reports said.
New Jersey Transit said they have surveillance footage of the incident and may have photographs of the masked men, reports said.
Police Sgt. Sam Williams said that the teen's friend was also unharmed in the incident, reports said.
