Jersey City police rescue man threatening to jump into the Hudson River

Scene from Newport in Jersey City yesterday where police talked a man down from jumping into Hudson River, according to police reports.
Jersey City police talked down a 37-year-old Hoboken man who was threatening to jump into the Hudson River Saturday afternoon, The Jersey Journal reports.
Called to an unused pier at River Drive South and Newport Parkway in Newport at 12:37 p.m., police spotted the distraught man sitting at the edge of the pier, which stretches 100 feet offshore and lies just north of the Holland Tunnel air ventilation building, reports said.
