August 22, 2011. A 19-year-old man was uninjured in a drive-by shooting in Jersey City Monday afternoon Police were called to a house on Manhattan Avenue at 1:40 p.m. on the report of shots fired. They found two spent .45 caliber shells on the street in front of the house, reports said. A 19 year-old-man in the house refused to cooperate with police, officials said. A witness said she heard him yelling into his phone, "He tried to shoot me," reports said. According to the witness, she and the victim went outside and saw a four-door beige Chrysler driving slowly past the house. A heavy set man in the front passenger seat wearing a black T-shirt fired three or four rounds toward the victim, and then fled east on Manhattan Avenue, reports said. Witnesses recognized the driver, who may have had a previous altercation with the boyfriend of a resident who lives in the second-floor apartment, reports said. Police found that a window was broken in the house next door with what appeared to be a bullet, reports said.
