View Larger Map Jersey City man charged after shots fired at park Published: Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 3:00 AM By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal A 19-year-old Jersey City man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after shots were fired early Saturday near Pershing Field, according to police reports. Called to Booraem and Webster avenues at 1:37 a.m. on reports of shots fired, police saw five men leaving the scene and entering Pershing Field Park, reports said. One of the men, Luis A. Roman of Culver Street, was seen dropping a gun to the ground and was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon, reports said. A body search of Roman turned up four small bags of suspected marijuana in his pants pockets, reports said, adding that Roman was additionally charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and drug possession within 500 feet of a park. The other men were checked for warrants and released.
