View Larger Map Jersey City suspect manages to elude officers Published: Tuesday, June 07, 2011, 3:00 AM By Stephanie Musat/ The Jersey Journal A man stole a car and eluded Jersey City police after a chase Sunday night that ended with the man fleeing on foot, police said. Two police officers noticed a 1990 blue Buick on Ege Avenue that was believed to be operated by a man wanted for a shooting earlier Sunday, reports said. When police turned on their lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over and the police chased him, reports said. Police said the driver went the wrong way on Oak Street, a one-way road, and turned left onto Ocean Avenue before hitting two cars, including a parked Cadillac. When police pulled next to the Buick, the man jumped out of the stolen car and fled on foot, cops said, with police in pursuit.
