View Larger Map Man beaten and robbed inside Jersey City apartment building Tuesday, June 07, 2011, 3:00 AM By Stephanie Musat/ The Jersey Journal A man was brought to Jersey City Medical Center after he was robbed and assaulted Sunday night, according to police reports. The man was drinking beer on the second floor of an apartment building on Academy Street in Jersey City around 6:20 p.m., according to the report. He was approached by a man who he knew as someone who stayed at the apartment building, reports said. The report said the attacker punched the victim in the head and face, knocking him to the floor and then kicking him in the hip. The attacker reportedly reached into the victim?s pocket and took $85, the report said. When police arrived, the victim was still on the floor, complaining about face pain. Police searched the building for the suspect, but did not find the attacker, the report said. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for bruises on his face. Because the victim was intoxicated, the police paused the investigation until the victim could cooperate with questioning, according to the report.
