A 16-year-old Jersey City boy was charged with bringing a knife to Ferris High School after he set off a metal detector at the Downtown school yesterday afternoon, officials said.
Right after the Randolph Avenue boy set off the detector at 12:38 p.m., a security guard at the Montgomery Street school told police she spotted him trying to slip something into his pants, reports said.
The guard said she told the boy to turn over the object and he handed her a knife, reports said.
The boy was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon in an educational institution and taken to be processed at the Police Department's Juvenile Bureau on Cator Avenue, reports said.
