View Larger Map Bergen Lafayette: Jersey City cabbie punched in head, then shot in arm during late-night robbery Wednesday, May 25, 2011 The driver of a Jersey City cab was punched in the head and shot in the arm during a robbery late Monday, officials said yesterday. The 28-year-old Newark man said at 11:19 p.m. he was picking up a fare on Wegman Parkway when a man pointed a gun at his head and said "Give me everything you got," reports said. The robber punched the cabbie in the head, took $50 and fired one round into his upper arm, reports said. The taxi driver hit the gas and fled to Wilkinson and Ocean avenues, where he called for help, reports said. He said the gunman, and an accomplice who stood on the passenger side of the cab, were in their early 20s, reports said. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Jersey City Medical Center and underwent surgery, reports said.
