Saturday, January 22, 2011 By BRETT WILSHE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
A Jersey City woman was beaten and stabbed by her ex-boyfriend on Thursday night, according to Jersey City police officials.
According to reports, the victim, a 29-year-old woman, had returned to her home on Cambridge Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when the attack occurred. Reports said that the victim tried to turn on the lights in her dark apartment and found that they would not turn on. She was then attacked by her ex-boyfriend who punched her repeatedly in the face and on the body until she fell down, according to reports.
The victim said her ex-boyfriend then took out a knife and stabbed her three times in the leg during a struggle on the floor, officials said.
The report said the victim repeatedly asked her ex-boyfriend to take her to the hospital but he refused. She stated that she began to lose consciousness and he poured water over her head to keep her awake, according to the report.
She told police he finally relented and took her to Christ Hospital in his own vehicle, officials said. He dropped her off and then fled on foot, reports said.
She was treated for several lacerations and bruises, but none of her injuries were life threatening, reports said.
A warrant was issued for the ex-boyfriend, who will face charges of burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, criminal restraint, and domestic violence, officials said.
