Saturday, October 02, 2010 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
Three Jersey City teens were arrested on charges they opened fire on a Greenville home Thursday night in the aftermath of a street fight between two families living in adjacent homes, officials said.
Kahlil Burns, 18, of Bayview Avenue, Jamil King, 19, of Garfield Avenue, and a 14-year-old Virginia Avenue boy were arrested about 10:30 p.m. and charged with conspiracy, receiving stolen property, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, reports said.
The officers responded to Clinton Avenue and Sackett Street at 10:09 p.m. on a report of a street fight and ordered members of two families in an ongoing dispute to go back into their homes, reports said.
After driving away, the officers heard gunshots and were told there were three males on bicycles at the site of the fight and one of them was shooting at one of the residences, reports said.
A cruiser that returned to the area of the fight spotted the trio riding away and officers saw the juvenile tucking something into his waistband, reports said. All three were ordered to the ground and police found the 14-year-old had a stolen weapon with one hollow-point bullet in the firing chamber, reports said.
The officers also found Burns and King had ski masks and they were put in evidence, reports said, adding that one spent bullet was recovered from the residence.
