View Larger Map Jersey City cops charge teenage cyclist with mugging on Communipaw Ave. Thursday, September 16, 2010 Jersey City police charged a 16-year-old boy with robbing a man of cash and a digital camera on Communipaw Avenue Monday night before fleeing on a bicycle, reports said. Police responded at around 8:06 p.m. to the area of Communipaw Avenue and Whiton Street, where a 36-year-old man claimed a boy had approached him and offered to sell his bike for $10, reports indicated. After the man told the boy that he had no money, the juvenile knocked him to the ground by pushing the bicycle in a violent manner toward him, cops said. The mugger then hit the man in the face and torso while he was on the ground and removed $50 and a digital camera from his pockets, police said. Fleeing westbound on Communipaw Avenue, the boy dropped the camera, which the man recovered, reports said. The victim told police he had seen the boy at a Communipaw Avenue deli, according to reports. At 8:40 p.m., police observed the juvenile park his bike outside the deli and placed him under arrest, cops said. PATRICK VILLANOVA
