Fake gun taken from seventh-grader outside Jersey City Heights school

A fake gun was taken away from a seventh-grade student at a Jersey City Heights School yesterday evening, officials said.

Officers responded to School 28 on Hancock Avenue at 7:01 p.m. where they met a social worker who said he was parking when he spotted the boy with the fake gun with friends outside the school, reports said.

The social worker demanded the gun and the boy refused at first but then turned it over, reports said, adding that the student then left the area quickly.

The social worker said he would notify the principal and said he also told police he would meet with the boy today, reports said.
