A Jersey City man was carjacked at gunpoint in the early morning hours Monday by a man who got into his BMW in the Lafayette section and put a gun to his forehead, officials said.
Police responded to the home of the 30-year-old Prescott Street man who said he was pulling into his driveway at 12:25 a.m. when a man opened the driver's side door and pointed a handgun at him, reports said.
The gunman took the man's cell phones, struck him on the head and pushed him out of the way before driving away in the BMW, reports said.
The victim initially ran after his car, but gave up the chase and reported the theft to the West District Police Station, where he received treatment from EMTs, reports said.
The victim told police he saw a four-door Honda Civic trailing his car.
