Jersey City man leads cops on foot chase before his burglary arrest

By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
March 18, 2010, 7:30PM

A Jersey City ex-con was charged with burglary after leading police on a wild chase through rough terrain behind Dickinson High School where he was spotted "hiding between two boulders on the ridge," officials said.

When Jason Andrew Galindo, 37, of Claremeont Avenue, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. yesterday he was also charged with resisting arrest, obstructing a government function and criminal attempt, reports said.

Officers responded to a parking lot at 10th and Brunswick streets on a report of a man trying to break into a vehicle and as they drove toward the gray minivan, they spotted Galindo and he took off running, reports said.

Police pursued Galindo who ran west through bushes and jumped a gate as he headed for the train tracks below the high school, reports said. Galindo crossed the tracks and began making his way up the hill toward the high school but was arrested when he was spotted by one of the numerous responding officer, reports said.

Galindo was in prison from Dec. 4, 1997 to April 1, 1998 on two conviction for drug possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, state corrections record say.
