Jersey-City man finds himself looking down shotgun barrel as he sits warming up his car
Saturday, February 27, 2010 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
A Jersey City man warming up his car at the curbside in Greenville during Thursday night's snowstorm was robbed by two armed men, one of them toting a shotgun, officials said.
Police responded to Clerk and Union streets at 9:14 p.m., where the 49-year-old Catherine Court resident told them he was sitting in his idling car when a man with a shotgun walked up and told him to "Unlock the passenger door," reports said.
A second man armed with a silver handgun opened the door, got into the passenger seat and said "Give me your money, keys and cell phone," reports said.
Both men told the victim not to get out of his car and they fled, reports said, adding that the victim ran to a relative's home and called police.
The robber wielding the shotgun was described as 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-7 with a husky build and wearing a black and blue puffy jacket, and the robber with the pistol was described as 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6 with a slim build and wearing a dark brown jacket with a red hood, reports said.
They took the victim's black Samsung cell phone, keys and $226, reports said.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
